Holding onto Summer in a Bookmark!
Saving a Little Piece of Summer in a Bookmark!
The leaves may be hinting that fall is almost here but summer is not over yet. I am going to continue to hold onto summer as long as I can with these dried flower bookmarks. I loved this fun little project and I hope you do too!
Everything you need:
- Dried Flowers
- Dried Hydrangeas (to really hold onto my New England summer)
- Bookmark Molds
- Two Part Resin
- Resin Mats
- Resin Silicone Stir Sticks
- Silicone Resin Measuring Cups
- Gloves
Step by step:
Step One:
Resin is a fun medium that can make really great end products but it can get messy 🙃. Make sure to have all of your supplies ready. Don't forget to lay out your resin mats and don't forget to wear gloves to at minimum protect your rings 😉 (and your skin). You will thank me later!
Step Two:
Pour equal parts of the resin into a silicone resin measuring cup. Stir for approximately 5 minutes with one of the larger stir sticks.
Step Three:
Let sit for about 5 minutes for air bubbles to settle.
Step Four:
Slowly pour resin and spread out resin into bookmark molds. Pour up to about the first one-third of the mold.
Step Five:
It's time to design your bookmarks! Arrange dried flowers and dried hydrangeas on resin bookmarks.
Step Six:
Once you designed your book marks slowly pour resin over flowers to preserve.
Step Seven:
In 30-45 minutes check on bookmarks to make sure the resin is fully covering the flowers (sometimes these flowers float to the top). Carefully use tweezers to rearrange flowers as needed. Don't forget to grab another pair of gloves for this step 😄.
Step Eight:
Wait 24 hours for resin to cure ⏳.
Step Nine:
⌛️ Remove from molds and enjoy holding onto summer with your new favorite bookmarks! These can also make really great gifts!
